07 Jun Sesame Place Coming to SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Entertainment recently announced that they are working to build a second theme park based on Sesame Street to further encourage guests to visit their SeaWorld Orlando location! Kids and adults of all ages can enjoy and interact with these lovable characters who encourage learning, friendship, and fun. This new theme park will bring Sesame Street to life in a new and exciting way.

To do this, SeaWorld has extended their licensing agreement with the Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit that controls and runs the TV show and all characters. SeaWorld Entertainment currently runs a Sesame Place theme park located just outside of Philadelphia in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. This particular location offers all sorts of rides for kids as well as shows, parades, games, and many of your favorite furry Sesame Street friends.

Sesame Street Lands also exist in SeaWorld’s two Busch Gardens parks—Bay of Play and Safari of Fun—and two SeaWorld parks in San Diego and San Antonio.

This partnership benefits both SeaWorld and the Sesame Street brand. SeaWorld continues to work to diversify their offerings after being subject to intense protests after the documentary Blackfish was released. For Sesame Workshop, expanding these parks in more destinations allows them to stay relevant in a time where they are competing for the viewing attention of young children. It also allows Sesame Street to be more than just a TV show, but rather a physical place kids can go to interact with the characters in person.

The second Sesame Street Land is expected to open within SeaWorld Orlando by mid-2021. The newly-made arrangement with Sesame Workshop allows the SeaWorld company to open more Sesame Place theme parks in addition to the one in 2021. This agreement runs through the year 2031.
